Classic Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g mascarpone cheese
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 200ml espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 200g ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream: In a large bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Add mascarpone and mix until smooth.
  2. Whip Egg Whites: In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  3. Assemble Layers: Quickly dip ladyfingers in cooled espresso (don’t soak too long). Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a dish. Spread half the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  4. Repeat: Add another layer of espresso-dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone cream. Smooth the surface.
  5. Chill & Finish: Dust generously with cocoa powder. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
