Chicken & Tomato Croque (Grilled Chicken Sandwich)

Ingredients (for 1 person):
- 2 slices sandwich bread
- 100 g cooked chicken (shredded or sliced)
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 80 g cheese (cheddar, Emmental, or mozzarella)
- 1 tbsp butter (for the bread)
- 1 tbsp crème fraîche or béchamel (optional)
- Salt & pepper
- Optional: herbs (like oregano or parsley)
Instructions:
- Butter the bread:
Spread butter on the outside of both bread slices. Inside, optionally spread crème fraîche or béchamel. - Layer the filling:
Add the chicken, season with salt and pepper. Place tomato slices on top, sprinkle herbs if using, then add cheese. - Assemble:
Close the sandwich, buttered sides facing out. - Grill:
Cook in a skillet or sandwich press for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and melty.
Serve hot with a green salad or fries!
