Chicken & Tomato Croque (Grilled Chicken Sandwich)

Ingredients (for 1 person):

  • 2 slices sandwich bread
  • 100 g cooked chicken (shredded or sliced)
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 80 g cheese (cheddar, Emmental, or mozzarella)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for the bread)
  • 1 tbsp crème fraîche or béchamel (optional)
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: herbs (like oregano or parsley)

Instructions:

  1. Butter the bread:
    Spread butter on the outside of both bread slices. Inside, optionally spread crème fraîche or béchamel.
  2. Layer the filling:
    Add the chicken, season with salt and pepper. Place tomato slices on top, sprinkle herbs if using, then add cheese.
  3. Assemble:
    Close the sandwich, buttered sides facing out.
  4. Grill:
    Cook in a skillet or sandwich press for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and melty.

Serve hot with a green salad or fries!
