A Hearty Slice of Cheeseburger Heaven—Straight from the Oven!
If you’ve ever craved a cheeseburger but wanted it in pie form (yes, it’s a thing!), this Cheeseburger Pie is your answer. A classic recipe inspired by the comfort-food queen herself, The Pioneer Woman, this dish delivers everything we love about cheeseburgers—savory beef, melted cheddar, and that homey, golden crust—all baked into one easy, sliceable pie.
It’s quick to whip up, perfect for family dinners, and sure to hit the spot every time.
Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ tsp salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder, to taste (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Bisquick mix (or substitute all-purpose flour)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
1. Prep Your Oven & Pie Plate
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch glass pie plate with vegetable oil or cooking spray.
2. Cook the Beef & Onions
In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened—about 3 minutes.
Add in the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 10 minutes.
Drain any excess fat, then season with salt, pepper, and a dash of garlic powder if using.
3. Assemble the Pie
Spread the beef and onion mixture evenly into the prepared pie plate.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
4. Make the Batter
In a small bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth.
Pour this batter evenly over the beef and cheese layers.
5. Bake to Golden Perfection
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden and puffed.
6. Serve & Savor
Let the pie cool slightly before slicing into hearty wedges. Serve warm with a crisp green salad or a dollop of ketchup or mustard on the side!
