Philly Steak Cheese Fries Recipe

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 450 g steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8-10 slices White American cheese
  • 570 g bag McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries (or your favorite fries)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Cook the Steak
Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the thinly sliced steak, season with garlic salt and black pepper, and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables
Reserve 1 tablespoon of the skillet’s liquid and discard the rest. Return the skillet to the stove, add the sliced green bell pepper and onion, and cook in the reserved liquid until tender but slightly crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Layer the Fries and Toppings
In the same skillet (or a baking dish), spread a layer of waffle fries. Place 4 slices of White American cheese over the fries, followed by a layer of cooked steak and sautéed vegetables. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining cheese slices on top.
  5. Bake
Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot. Dig into these loaded Philly Steak Cheese Fries with friends, family, or solo for a truly indulgent treat!

Tips for Success

  • Make it Your Own: Swap White American cheese for provolone or Cheez Whiz for an authentic Philly vibe. Add jalapeños for a spicy kick!
  • Fry Options: While waffle fries add great texture, you can use crinkle-cut or shoestring fries for a different twist.
  • Meal Prep: Cook the steak and veggies ahead of time for a quicker assembly.
