Craving a seriously satisfying sandwich? These Loaded Cheesesteak Sandwiches deliver big flavor with every bite. Think thin-sliced beef, golden caramelized onions, sweet bell peppers, and rivers of melted cheese—tucked into a toasty hoagie roll. It’s a bold, crave-worthy classic you can make right at home!

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1½ lb ribeye or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter

For the Cheese:

  • 6 slices provolone or white American cheese
  • (Optional: Cheese Whiz for extra gooeyness!)

For the Hoagie Rolls:

  • 2 large hoagie rolls, split
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

1. Caramelize the Veggies

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add sliced onions and bell peppers with a pinch of salt. Cook low and slow for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden. Remove from pan and set aside.

2. Sear the Steak

Crank up the heat! Add a splash of vegetable oil to the same skillet. Sear the steak slices in batches—don’t overcrowd the pan. Cook until browned and just cooked through, then season with salt and pepper.

3. Melt the Cheese

Turn heat to medium-low. Return the onions and peppers to the skillet and toss with the beef. Lay the cheese slices over the top. Cover with a lid or foil for a minute or two until gooey and melted. Stir gently to mix.

4. Toast the Rolls

Spread softened butter on the cut sides of your hoagie rolls. Toast on a hot skillet or under the broiler until golden and crisp.

5. Assemble & Serve

Scoop the hot, cheesy steak mixture into your toasted rolls. Serve immediately on a black slate or wooden board for that deli-style vibe!

Tips & Twists:

  • Swap in mushrooms for extra umami.
  • Add a drizzle of hot sauce or garlic aioli for a flavor boost.
  • Not into provolone? Try mozzarella, pepper jack, or smoked gouda.

Serving Idea:

Pair with crispy fries, garlic dill pickles, or a cold beer. It’s the sandwich that eats like a meal!
