Golden, crispy, and full of flavor—this down-home classic is comfort food at its best!

Whether you’re serving them as a hearty side dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these Fried Potatoes and Onions deliver every time. They’re beautifully browned, seasoned just right, and made with pantry staples. The kind of simple, satisfying dish that fills the kitchen with cozy aromas and gets everyone coming back for seconds!

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional for a smoky kick)

Instructions:

1. Prep the Potatoes

Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds or half-moons, depending on your preference.

Place them in a bowl of cold water for 5–10 minutes—this helps remove excess starch and gives you crispier potatoes.
Drain well and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

2. Start Frying

In a large skillet (cast iron works great here!), heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.

Add the sliced potatoes and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to turn golden brown and crispy on the outside.

3. Add the Onions

Add the sliced onions to the pan with the potatoes.

Continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes so everything cooks evenly and the onions caramelize to a sweet, golden perfection.

4. Season & Serve

Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings like garlic powder and paprika for added flavor.

Serve hot right out of the skillet for the crispiest bite, and pair with eggs, sausage, grilled meats, or just enjoy as-is!

Tips & Tricks:

  • Want extra crisp? Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if needed!
  • Variations: Add chopped bell peppers, fresh herbs, or even a dash of hot sauce before serving.
  • Leftovers? These reheat beautifully in a skillet or air fryer.
