This quick and easy stir-fry is packed with tender chicken, earthy mushrooms, and a bold black pepper sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced thin
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- Β½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ΒΌ cup water
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Chicken
- In a bowl, toss sliced chicken with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
Step 2: Cook the Chicken
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden and cooked through.
- Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 3: SautΓ© the Vegetables
- Add the remaining oil to the skillet.
- SautΓ© the onion and mushrooms for 5 minutes, until softened.
Step 4: Make the Sauce
- Stir in garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and water.
- Simmer for 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
Step 5: Combine Everything
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir well.
- Add freshly ground black pepper to taste.
