Ingredients

For the Beef Skewers:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, cut into 1-inch strips
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)

For the Peanut Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste

Garnishes:

  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges
  • Cucumber slices

Instructions

1. Marinate the Beef

In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, lime juice, garlic, ginger, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and chili flakes. Add the beef strips and toss to coat. Cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for maximum flavor.

2. Make the Peanut Sauce

In a medium bowl, whisk together all the peanut sauce ingredients until smooth. If it’s too thick, stir in a little extra coconut milk or warm water to thin it out. Taste and adjust the salt or chili to your liking. Set aside.

3. Assemble and Grill

Thread the marinated beef onto wooden (soaked in water) or metal skewers. Grill over medium-high heat for about 2–3 minutes per side, or until nicely charred and cooked to your desired doneness.

4. Serve and Enjoy!

Arrange the beef satay skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle with the peanut sauce and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. Serve with lime wedges and crisp cucumber slices on the side—and don’t forget an extra bowl of peanut sauce for dipping!
