Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (or as needed)
  • Butter (for greasing)
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 300g minced meat (beef, chicken, or pork)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 100g cheese (grated, such as mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 bunch of parsley (chopped)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking sheet with butter.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a skillet, heat a little butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the minced meat, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Assemble the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread the cooked minced meat mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the grated cheese and chopped parsley over the meat.
  4. Roll and Cut: Carefully roll the pastry into a log. Slice the log into 4-6 equal pieces, depending on your desired size.
  5. Bake: Place the rolls on the greased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with extra parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or chili flakes to the meat mixture.
  • Pair with a side salad or dipping sauce like marinara or garlic aioli.
