These Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are like little bites of joy β soft in the center, golden on the edges, and dotted with juicy cherry bits and rich chocolate chips. The sweet-tart maraschino cherries add a fun, nostalgic pop of color and flavor that makes these cookies perfect for Valentine’s Day, holiday cookie trays, or just because you need a treat!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (50g) packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (120g) maraschino cherries, drained well and chopped
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat.
2. Cream the Butter & Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy β about 2β3 minutes.
3. Add the Egg & Vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
4. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
5. Fold in the Good Stuff
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries. Be careful not to overmix β you want those cherry bits evenly distributed without breaking them down too much.
6. Scoop & Bake
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough (or use a cookie scoop for even portions) onto your prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
Bake for 10β12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are just set. Don’t overbake β these cookies are best soft and chewy!
Cool & Enjoy
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm with a glass of milk, or store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Optional Twists:
- Nuts instead of cherries? Try chopped walnuts or pecans for a toasty crunch.
- Feeling adventurous? Swap the chocolate chips for white chocolate or dark chocolate chunks for a delicious twist.
